Have you always had an eye for colour?
When I was a young painter, one critic said: “You have no colour theory”. Over the years I got over that and when I discovered textile-making, it was all about colour, so I gained confidence in the realm. Textiles – particularly yarn – is what opened my eyes to colour.
What media did you work in as an artist before specialising in textiles?
I was a fine art painter concentrating on still lives. After a period of portrait painting – a thankless task if ever there was one…
